Neoprene Wrist Brace

Author: admin

Just like the ankle, the wrist can easily be sprained and most commonly in a fall for sports players. The damage may vary from a micro-tear to a severe or even complete tear of the ligament tissue.

Obviously, wearing a wrist brace won’t stop you from taking a fall or suffering a sprain as a result of it. However, if you have sprained your wrist, a wrist brace may assist with recovery and possible recurrence of the injury when you start playing again. A wrist brace that is little more than a sweat band is not a good idea; you need to find one that is firm and will give you confidence that it will help you prevent traumatic injury again. The best one would be a neoprene wrist brace that fits over the lower part of the hand as well as the wrist, offering support for the whole joint.

Elbow Pain

Author: admin

Elbow joint pain will be experienced most when you are resting after a long day. Calcium or mineral deposits will develop a lot of problems causing abnormalities to the tendons. When you are suffering from the pain, you can be tested to find out the extent of the injury. X-rays will usually detect the problem. If your injury is severe, your best option for curing chronic pain is surgery.

However, wearing an elbow support or strap when you have an injury is by far the best thing to do. It will usually  prevent re-injury. Natural recovery is ideal, so stimulation of this recovery is the key to healing the problem. Then, rehabilitation is usually vital to ensure that strength is regained in the elbow. You need a professional to guide you through the exercises.

Wrist Braces

Author: admin

Among the common conservative approaches to managing the pain caused by carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist support braces are suggested as the safest approach.

Wrist braces and splints are often recommended, along with certain lifestyle changes, to help ease pressure on your median nerve.  This also helps to relieve the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. This approach works to stabilize the carpel tunnel in its neutral position and keep it in its widest diameter. The positioning effectively eases the pressure on the nerve. Ideally, the brace or splint should be worn all the time. If you manage this, then at least wear the wrist brace splint while you sleep or while you do activities that require a great deal use of the wrists.

Support Stockings

Author: admin

There are many beautiful, mature women today, living in a temperate climate, still preferring to wear nylon stockings rather than jeans or slacks. Many of these women also prefer to wear a support socking instead of wearing just an everyday nylon stocking.

There is a considerable advantage for mature women to wear a compression stockings since they help to avert blood clots by pushing the blood back to the heart. Typically, support or compression stockings are more expensive than regular stockings but the advantages of having assistance with stopping blood clots far outweighs any extra cost.

Foot Drop Braces

Author: admin

Drop foot is defined as the loss of ability to raise the foot at the ankle and naturally that leads to difficulty in walking. If you are suffering from a foot or lower leg injury, you are at a much higher risk to develop the drop foot syndrome. Should this circumstance happen to you, there are foot drop braces available to support the anterior muscle which is used for lifting your foot. People with this kind of injury use the hip muscles to lift the foot above the ground and this becomes tiring.

The aim of a brace is to provide you with a more normal walk. This is also known as ankle-foot orthotics or AFO. To understand how these braces work, you must first understand the there are two standard motions that occur in the ankle joint, plantar flexion – motioning the toes to point downward and dorsiflexion – motioning the toes to point upward.

Inflatable back brace

Author: admin

There are back braces with many features, such as an adjustable air bladder which provides a custom fit and offers focused compression in the lumbar area. The one I like also has a self-contained pneumatic system designed to be low profile and easy to use. The mesh panels and ventilation hole features increase breathability and enhance comfort.

This inflatable back brace, With overlapping double pull straps, provides additional support to the lumbar and abdominal areas. Flexible stays provide optimum support in the lumbar area and rubber material is strategically sewn inside each support to prevent the brace from moving.

It also has a gel pad which helps defeat the pain cycle by providing cold therapy to reduce swelling and, or, hot therapy to increase blood flow and stimulate recovery. Suspenders are available for extra support.

Elliptical Trainer vs. Treadmill

Author: admin

It has been found that elliptical trainers create less impact on the knees, feet, hips and back, therefore reducing stress on the joints when compared to similar intensity on a treadmill. Today’s newer ellipticals offer both lower body and upper body training which bring more muscles into action and can enhance the workout.

Studies have shown that the both the treadmill and elliptical trainers work the heart, lungs and burn calories equally. Some runners seem to prefer treadmills over ellipticals. Treadmills have been around a longer have proved effective at burning calories and improving cardiovascular function.  For most people, it really comes down to preference.

Knee Support

Author: admin

If your kneecap does not ‘track” properly, it may be that your kneecap dislocates. This can be a very uncomfortable experience. Usually, you can feel this when you bend and straighten your leg, for instance, when you get out of a chair and stand up. There may also be other situations in which your knee cap starts to deviate.

A good way to help stop this migration issue you are having at your kneecap is to use a lightweight, low profile knee support. These supports usually include an elastic strap and a buttress that rests against the side of the kneecap.  You will get instant relief.

The foot is a most essential part of our body and moves us around for our day-to-day activities. If the nerves or tendons have been damaged, the foot may flop down and not allow you to be active.

Here is a foot drill that may be of value in building up stronger muscular tissue. Toe pick ups. This exercises strengthen and improves the tractability of your toes. To execute these exercises, you position a few items on the floor and pick them up with only your toes and move them to a different place. You’ll want to try doing the exercises 3 times a day.

Another way of increasing the strength is to use drop foot brace on a day to day basis

Wrist Pain – Two Stretches to Avoid

Author: admin

Maybe your work or hobby is hurting your wrists. When you get carpal tunnel or wrist pain, there are 2 stretches that can make it worse. You’d think that stretches are good for your wrists to relieve muscle tension. Without knowing exactly which stretches are therapeutic for your condition, you could actually be increasing your pain.

When there is not a straight line from your elbow to your fingers, your wrists are not flat. They are bent, in either a flexed position or an extended position. For instance, when the hands are moving downward, they are flexed. When the hands are lifted up, they are extended.

If your wrists are kept in one position for too long, you can develop a Repetitive Stress Injury or RSI. This is usually caused by doing the same movements over and over again during work or hobbies.
