Knee Injuries in Senior Years

Author: admin

Knee pain is a common complaint among seniors. A proper diagnosis is essential to be able to treat the knee and get the pain relieved.  Arthritis is a very common cause and is seen primarily in people over the age of 60.  However, this can afflict a person of any age, especially if they are not active.  Anti-inflammatory medication and light exercise will help to keep the joint free of pain.  A good knee brace for support will also be very helpful.

If you are active, ligament injuries are a common cause of knee pain.  This can make the knee unstable and you may require a walking aid such as a stick for a while.  Bed rest to restrict the movement is the best cure for ligament injuries.
