Advantages and Disadvantages of tne Knee Braces

Author: Active-Support

The material neoprene was invented by DuPont Laboratories. It is a synthetic rubber that when made into fabric is provided with a spandex backing that makes it elastic. This characteristic opened neoprene to a wide variety of uses. It is, however, not an easy material to work with. It needs special sewing and seam-sealing techniques.

A Neoprene knee brace provides support as well as warmth to an injured joint. The elasticity of the fabric provides a tightness that keeps the joint in place without the need for fasteners. At the same time, it allows for flexibility providing minimal hindrance to the wearer. While these benefits are commonly recognized, some warn against false security that a neoprene knee brace provides. It often gives the wearer undue confidence to push the injured limb over the limit.
